Ed in '08

Hey guys!

Check out this video about the need for public education reform in the U.S. and let me know what you think. How could we improve the system and keep the U.S. competitive with other world powers?

This is truly an amazing video that demonstrates the need for an education reform in the United States. It is a real "eye opener" to notice that the United States ranks so low in the quality of education for students, yet we pay as much per student as Switzerland, who ranks 6th.

As for improving this, I believe that parents need to project the importance of education in our nation. Teachers do the best that they can with the district standards, No Child Left Behind, and the everyday classroom stress weighing in to all of those. This is an increasing problem and we can just hope that it will continue to improve as the years progress.

For another "eye opener" video, visit YouTube and watch the video entitled, "Did You Know 2.0?" It is a fascinating movie about the quality of graduates that feeds into what this video is talking about!

The information in that video is kinda frightening. The fact that no one is really addressing issues about how the U.S dropout rate concerns me because people that dont have a high school education usually end up costing our country even more money in the long run because they need aid to pay bills and feed their families. Also we are spending the most money in the world on education but yet we arent really getting the results we are paying for.

I agree with emosier about how parents really need to get involved in their childrens education. There are lots of families that dont take education seriously and therefore their children wont either. I never thought I would want to use this statement but...less TV and more studying is definitely needed.

I really liked that video!! Informative and shocking.
